Why don't the numbers add up? Age (Adults/Minors) and sex (Female/Male) are only recorded when that information is known or disclosed, so those breakdowns will typically total less than "Victims Involved." A single case can also involve more than one victim, and a case can be flagged as more than one trafficking type at once (for example, both sex and labor), so the case-type categories aren't mutually exclusive slices of one whole. Read each figure as its own count rather than a piece of a single running total.

Figures reflect signals and cases reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline across the United States in 2024. Since the Hotline's launch in 2007, it has received 463,109 signals and identified 112,822 cases involving 218,568 victims nationwide.

As noted by the National Human Trafficking Hotline, "contactor data describes only those who were aware of and chose to contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline, as well as information those contactors chose to share about themselves and potential trafficking situations." For this reason, the provided data only encompasses hotline reporting and does not fully capture the severity of the issue at the state or national level.

The organization directory lists local and regional anti-trafficking organizations across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, compiled to help people find services, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved near them.
